Additional works are also underway at Stoke F.C's Clayton Wood Training Ground with irrigation being added to the extended Desso areas currently under construction. This follows on from our scheme in 2016 which saw irrigation and undersoil heating installed at the training ground and the Bet365 stadium. More info and pictures will be added over the coming weeks.
At the height of summer and with your neighbours about to host The Open the last thing a greenkeeper needs is to lose the use of his pump set, but that’s what happened at Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa. The club took quick decisive action in appointing Irrigation Control to remedy the situation. Our service engineers stepped up to the task and within a few days had taken one of our existing hire sets, modified it, built a panel, removed the existing equipment and installed the modified set.
We have recently completed a scheme at Millfield School in Somerset. A tricky project which required the use of a 50m3 underground water storage tank due to space restrictions, this also required a substantial excavation through layers of sandstone! New pump house and a Grundfos MPC pump station were also installed to feed the new pipe network, valves and controls to the hockey pitch rain guns. In addition an extension to the adjacent rugby pitch was also provided so that mobile travelling sprinklers can be used. New power supplies, water supplies and multiple services in the installation area made for an interesting scheme but all works were completed on plan and on budget - great effort by the team involved.
We have also had a busy summer at Manchester Utd's Aon Training Ground. Following several years of phased installations at the clubs training facilities we were once again asked to install irrigation to four more pitches with undersoil heating also being added to 2 of the pitches. The system has now grown to include irrigation to all of the perimeter areas to ensure wall to wall irrigation is provided across the newly constructed area. Previous phases have seen us install irrigation to the 1st team pitches along with several of the training pitches across the site. Pitch construction has been undertaken by J Mallinson (Ormskirk) Ltd who have constructed several Desso pitches during the scheme. More pictures will follow as works continue.
